ABOUT SCAP
OUR PROFILE & HISTORY
The Somerset Community Action Program, Inc. (SCAP) has been a catalyst for transformation in Somerset County, New Jersey since 1965. As one of the first community action agencies established under the Economic Opportunity Act, SCAP is a proud member of the Community Action Partnership National Association. From day one, SCAP’s leadership has embraced progressive values and a deep belief in the power of community-driven change.
For over five decades, SCAP has served as Somerset County’s designated community action agency—partnering with residents to overcome barriers to economic stability and unlock new opportunities. Our holistic programs in early childhood education, youth development, family support, and community services are designed not only to address immediate needs, but to build lasting resilience and independence.
At SCAP, we do not just serve the community—we are the community. Every initiative is shaped by the voices and aspirations of those we support. Together, we are creating a more inclusive, empowered, and thriving Somerset County—one family, one neighborhood, one future at a time.
